#IRunWithMaud

The video of Ahmaud Arbery, a young black man, being murdered has finally been released. While this happened in February, it is “big news” because his killers are still sitting at home. If you haven’t heard of the story, look it up. The video is gut-wrenching to watch and is yet another example of present day lynchings. This young man was dressed like so many whom I’ve watched from my window jog up and down our road in the same type of clothing, the same form, yet he had different skin.

From runwithmaud.com: "Ahmaud Arbery, a fit athlete, was out jogging near his home on a Sunday afternoon in Brunswick, Georgia on February 23, 2020, when two white supremacists saw him, got their guns, got in a truck, chased him down, pulled up next to him, shot him at least two times, and killed him right there on the spot. Ahmaud was unarmed, broke no laws, and did nothing wrong. He was only 25 years old when he died."

Are you a runner? Go running tomorrow on May 8th (Ahmaud’s birthday) and use the hashtag #IRunWithMaud. Here is a link with more information about #IRunWithMaud. You can also sign the petition to seek justice for Ahmaud using the same link.
