Juneteenth (June + nineteen) is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Teen Vogue published a great article about the history and now celebration of this day.

As Jameelah Nasheed wrote, "Juneteenth isn’t the "other" Independence Day, it is the Independence Day."
